As part of ongoing efforts to develop professional competencies and enhance the quality of services provided to persons with disabilities, a specialized training course was held targeting specialists working in this field. The course focused on developing skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech and language disorders, responding to the growing need for qualified professionals with strong theoretical and practical expertise in communication and speech therapy.
The course was delivered by trainer Nawal Rihan, who has extensive experience in the field of speech and language disorders. She presented a comprehensive training program that combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical applications, contributing to strengthening participants’ professional capabilities and enabling them to deal effectively with various cases.
The training covered several key topics, most notably understanding the stages of normal speech and language development, and identifying the speech apparatus and articulatory organs and their roles in sound production. The course also focused on identifying and understanding different types of speech disorders, accurate assessment and diagnosis of speech and language, and gaining knowledge of places of articulation and their importance in correcting speech.
In addition, the course addressed identifying different types of language and communication disorders, training participants on the application of speech assessment tests and measurement tools, and designing and preparing individualized treatment plans tailored to each case. Participants were also introduced to the tools used by speech-language specialists and how to apply them effectively during therapy sessions.
To strengthen the practical aspect, the course included interactive games aimed at enhancing language and communication skills, giving participants the opportunity to learn innovative methods that make therapy sessions more engaging and effective.
