KHAIR RESTAURANTS

KHAIR RESTAURANTS

Yemen has been in the grip of a prolonged conflict since 2015, which has led to one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the world. The United Nations (UN) has classified the crisis as a Level 3 system-wide humanitarian emergency, requiring the highest level of global humanitarian response. Thanks to the support of its volunteers, Y30 is implementing a project called ‘Khair restaurants’ in Sana’a to meet the food needs of the population.

Charity restaurants

More than 75% of the Yemeni population needs humanitarian aid, with 2/3 of the population facing food insecurity. According to the United Nations World Food Programme, 1.2 million women and 2.3 million children require treatment for acute malnutrition, and the economic slowdown has further worsened the food crisis. Humanitarian responses aimed at improving food security remain urgent and essential.

In response to this crisis, Y30 has provided vital food assistance through its 2 charitable restaurants in the Musik district, one of the poorest and most densely populated areas in the city of Sana’a.

Since the launch of the project in 2018, more than 3 million hot meals have been distributed, benefiting 6,000 people per day. The demand for food assistance continues to grow as families struggle to obtain basic necessities.

The Khair Restaurants project has previously received valuable support, which helped sustain meal distribution efforts. These contributions allowed the project to reach more vulnerable families, ensuring that essential food aid continued to be provided during critical periods. To support this initiative, we are seeking new support to secure the resources necessary to continue meal distribution.
